Question #2 The worldview in the Wizard of Oz

The worldview in the Wizard of Oz is postmodernism. This worldview is seen through the main characters Dorothy, scarecrow, tin man, and the cowardly lion. Each of these characters think that they have a problem that can only be solved by the wizard, this relates with Postmodernism because they believe that before people began thinking for themselves, they all thought that they needed a god "wizard" to help them. In the Wizard of Oz all of these characters go out on a quest to find the wizard and have them fix their problems, but when the finally reach the wizard they find out that he is one big fake. This is the exact thing that postmodernist's believe about our world that once people started taking the time to think for themselves they discovered that god was nothing more than what people made him to be. Dorothy and all the other characters did not really need the wizard to fix all of their problems, because they could fix them themselves and did not need a phony wizard to do it for them. Postmodernism encourages people to think for themselve and you can see this idea In the wizard of oz after the characters found out that the wizard was a fake they all became much happier knowing they could solve their own problems.
